Join the Santa Clara Pro-Choice Community in a walk for choice in downtown Los Altos.
The annual Pro-Choice March marking the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade is scheduled 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in downtown Los Altos.
A program preceding the march at the Los Altos Youth Center, 1 N. San Antonio Road, will include Dr. Sylvia Yen from Mountain View’s Center for Adolescent Health, reproductive health specialist Dr. Ellen Shaffer, former Santa Clara County Supervisor Liz Kniss and a performance by the Raging Grannies. The event is co-sponsored by the Los Altos/Mountain View Branch of the American Association of University Women and the Santa Clara County Pro-Choice Community.
Following the program, participants will march into downtown Los Altos, walking up State Street, across First Street and down Main Street to the Youth Center.
Participants are encouraged to bring signs; some will be provided by march organizers. Men and children are invited to attend.
A $2 donation is requested to defray costs.
Pro-life advocates are scheduled to participate in the Walk for Life West Coast 12:15 p.m. Jan. 25 in Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco. The walk replaces the many individual commemorations that orignally motivated the Los Altos Pro-Choice March.
